Description: The SQL Server Data Base Administrator shall be an experienced professional that has performed the applicable duties in a large scale enterprise environment. The professional shall be responsible for all aspects of administering SQL Server databases and servers. Additional responsibilities will be to utilize ancillary products for monitoring and support of the environments. Job requirements include hardware and software trouble shooting, setting up servers, and working with IT clients to help implement in-house and third party applications and databases. It is desirable that this person also has some experience with Oracle, Oracle Financials, Sybase, Sybase Replication, Informatica, Veritas Indepth, Net-IQ. 1. Perform all aspects of SQL Server 2000 data base administration. 2. Provide 24x7 on-call for 7-days (every 3 to 4 weeks) 3. Perform occasional support at Business Continuity data center 4. Write T-SQL procedures/scripts to satisfy a variety of requirements in support of the SQL Server environments. 5. Monitor server performance with various tools and methods. 6. Troubleshoot server and application performance issues. 7. Provide client support in a Development, Test, and Production environment. 8. Perform Change Management activities on Production servers. 9. Perform as a project leader/coordinator for internal projects. 10. Keep appropriate documentation up-to-date. 11. Effectively communicate support activities with other team members. Normal work environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature. Intense visual concentration may be required along with the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent sitting and intermittent walking is also required. Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by pager and/or cell phone. Five years of directly related work experience with SQL Server Data Base Administration; two of those years should be in a multi-database enterprise environment. Extensive knowledge of TSQL scripting, Job Scheduling, Server setup and configuration, and all aspects of SQL Server 2000 capabilities. Preferences will be experience with other SQL Server products, relational database management and Informatica. Good oral and written communications skills are very important. Exceptional ability in diagnosing and solving information system problems while maintaining professionalism and courtesy. Competent interpersonal skills: including ability to work productively and professionally with any level of business and technical resources; ability to effectively interact and communicate with a variety of individuals at all technical levels is required. Must possess a solid understanding of software and/or hardware systems used in assigned area. Must have the ability to manage projects, establish priorities, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced, demanding work environment. The ability to influence others so that objectives are met is required. The ability to cooperate in a team environment is critical. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.
